Cluny Day - Comóradh agus Ceiliúradh

Cluny Day - Comóradh agus Ceiliúradh

Together we celebrated Cluny day with joy

Passionate and fearless, quick to love and to forgive, filled with a goodness that knew no limits or barriers, Blessed Anne Marie Javouhey lived a life of intense love of God and was driven by unconditional love of anyone who needed her help and support.

By celebrating Cluny Day we follow in her footprints, we journey some of the way in her memory and honour that legacy.

Together we celebrated Cluny day with joy, laughter and communion.

Led by Fr Michael McCullagh and joined by the Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny as well as our Parents Association, we prayed together, commemorated and celebrated in faith, hope and love.

Following a poignant celebration of the Eucharist, our Parents Association secretary Ms Jacki Parker, presented awards to our inaugural Comóradh agus Ceiliúradh T-shirt design competition winners. The awards were to the following students:

Runners up

Sky Synott (4 Malala), Caitlin Shevlin (6 Markievicz) Urenna Nwanna and Laoise Ruane (3 Therese)

Distinctions

Lily Conroy and Charlotte Coffey (1 Keane) Aoife O'Brien (2 Nolan)

Overall winner

Lexi Taran (1 Keane)

We all wore Lexi’s winning design on the day and felt blessed by the treasure it depicts.

Huge Congratulation to all who entered and supported this initiative.

Our principal, Mrs Cuddihy-Higgins awarded bouquets of flowers to Ms Jacki Parker (PA Secretary) and Ms Alana Farrelly (PA Treasurer) as they complete their service to the PA this year. Sincere gratitude for all of their work and valued support.

Mrs Cuddihy-Higgins then announced the Cluny Day award that went to Ms Sarah Hawkshaw, our amazing Olympian and friend. Ms Hawkshaw joined us with her grandparents and spoke eloquently to the community inspiring us all to reach for the stars.

Following our formal ceremony the Cluny Day Sports Day was launched. Ms Coen led the day and Ms Somers was our faithful Master of Ceremonies. Ms Delaney and the 6th year tutors, with the 6th years, enjoyed a wonderful day together singing and sharing in the Assembly Hall.

The whole school led, supported, participated and rallied to make this Cluny Day, (our first in three years), one to remember forever. Class Nolan won the overall sports trophy and they celebrated in style with their tutor, Ms Kelly Black and their Dean, Ms Noreen McGlinn.

Sincere thank you to everyone who played their part, from the treats to the medals, the organising to the set-up, the participants to the leaders, the Sisters to the saints and everyone in between.

We are grateful, we are blessed and in the words of Fr McCullagh, our wonderful celebrant who set such a sacred tone, we are each precious and dearly loved.
