Cluny Day and Sports Day 2019 at Mount Sackville May 14th
Cluny Day 2019

Cluny Day at Mount Sackville on Tuesday May 14th was celebrated once again with our annual Sports Day for the girls.

The sun shone down on our athletes who participated with a mixture of zeal and good cheer in a wide range of sporting activities.

The girls had the opportunity to display their hockey skills as well as compete on the track over long and short distances. There was race walking, javelin, shot putt, long jump, high jump and hurdles to challenge the girls as well as the highly contested sack race and three-legged race!

The wonderful sunshine energised the girls, evident from the impromptu dancing that broke out on the track before close of day.

The girls, true to form, conscious of the needs of others, are donating all proceeds from their Tuck-Shop on the day to five of our 5th Years who will be accompanying sick pilgrims to Lourdes in September with the Dublin Diocese.

Additionally, they are donating the proceeds from the sale of ice cream at the event to Down syndrome Ireland. High commendations to the girls for this!

The school biodegradable water bottle was never so needed as it was at Sports Day and we thank the girls for embracing with passion our commitment at Mount Sackville to strive towards a greener earth. Well done to all who have turned their back on single-use plastic! Keep up the good work!

Finally, there was an exceptional turn out from the Parents Association who provided our athletes with a delicious BBQ offering a wide and inclusive menu with vegetarian, vegan, Halal chicken and succulent beef burgers. Every single burger was eaten with zero food waste – a noteworthy achievement brought about by the careful and experienced planning of Marese Daly and her hard working team. A very well done to all!!!
