THREE AWARDS FOR 'JULES ON THE LOOSE' IN CORK AND MOUNT ANVILLE BRINGS 'MACBETH' TO OUR SCHOOL!!
On Friday March 22nd, the talented cast of 'Macbeth' from Mount Anville school and their director,Ms.Rachel O'Brien brought their performance of 'Macbeth' to our school theatre. Mount Anville were also worthy winners in the Schools Shakespeare Festival in January with their chilling atmospheric thirty minute version of 'Macbeth'. The sixth year English teachers all brought their classes to this special performance as part of their English class and the audience was enthralled by the conviction in role, atmosphere and digital media portrayed by the Mount Anville cast which really brought the play to life in a truly meaningful manner.
This performance was then followed by the brilliant transition year cast of Mount Sackville's 'Jules on the Loose'. This play not only won numerous awards in the Schools Shakespeare festival in January, but also won three awards in the 'All Ireland Transition year Drama festival' in Cork on Tuesday 19th March. The play won 'Best supporting actor(again!) for Abbie Flannery; Special adjudicator's award for Isabelle Kerins Brett; and best overall new play to the festival. It was a very positive morning of drama in our school and a special thanks to Mr.Tim O' Connor who captured the event beautifully in photography.
Congratulations to both casts on a wonderful dramatic occasion for our school community.
