On April 26th sustainability advocates Lorraine Tighe and Zach Burns presented an Eco-talk to Mount Sackville parents/guardians and daughters on how we can play our part to deliver a more sustainable future for the next generation.
Lorraine Tighe hails from Co. Mayo, is a DCU graduate who now resides in Melbourne Australia. She is a creative leader passionate about accelerating sustainability and equity in our cities and has over twenty years of experience leading digital and cultural transformation across public and private sectors in Australia and Europe.
Lorraine’s emphasis during the recent talk was to encourage us to make a shift from a linear economy to a circular economy, so as to reduce waste, and advance the re-use of products and materials.
Zach Burns works at United Parcel Service (UPS), a multinational company that provides a range of integrated logistics solutions. His role as International Sustainability Supervisor for UPS is to ensure the enhancement of the UPS sustainability capabilities.
Zach discussed the career opportunities and development path that young people can expect in the future in the area of environment and climate change.
For those unable to attend the Eco-Talk both Lorraine and Zach kindly agreed to have their presentation recorded and it is available here : https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/wNLUhTil1UTNb0jyneePrnScSxpZWvHN7BY2ENbJyBFqchtSJLUglKuRKruKIBDW.P6qofwwg6j26Dq9E / Passcode: #Vy+sN2+
Finally the Parents Association are very grateful to Lorraine and Zach for their presentations and appreciate the work done by the First Year Parent Group for organising this Eco-Talk for the school community.
