Over many years Mount Sackville students have participated and raised funds for Pieta’s annual charity event “Darkness into Light” This year the Parents Association invited students to be involved in a fun event making Smoothies with the help of “Smoothie Bikes” while making a contribution to this worthy charity.
On Friday May 6th the girls used their pedal power to make smoothies and compete against each other, teachers, and staff in a leader-board challenge event. During a rainy afternoon the junior years, senior years and teachers pedalled a total of 90.61KM and raised €1056 in over two hours, with the able assistance of RHP events.
Throughout the afternoon the school’s junior dining hall was packed with palpable excitement and raucous support for the competing cyclists. By the close of the competition the Junior Cert students were the overall winners having cycled over 16km, followed by Transition year, 5th years, 1st years, Teachers and 2nd years.

In advance of Smoothie Day students prepared posters which were displayed around the school with recognition given to two artwork prints created by Areesha Rushd (1st year) and Isabelle Kelly (3rd year) which captured the spirit of the occasion.

The Parents Association wish to thank Gillian Fitzsimons and those parents who assisted throughout the afternoon in making the Smoothie Day a most memorable and jubilant event for Mount Sackville.
